What are your terms and conditions?
Our classes are non-refundable. If you cannot attend a class for which you have registered, you must notify us at least 48 hours prior to the class in order to receive a credit for a future class. For groups of 4 or more, we ask for at least a 72 hour notice. We cannot give class credit for 24 hour cancellations or no-shows. If you cannot provide sufficient advance notice, you may send someone else in your place. This applies to gift certificates as well.
How many people are in each class?
We have a minimum of 4 people and up to 12 people per class. We have 3 cooking stations.
Do you get to eat what is cooked?
Certainly! After the cooking is finished, you will sit down comfortably for a full meal with your class companions, and taste everything we cooked together.
Can I come alone, or do people come with others?
Some people come alone, others with friends, boyfriends or girlfriends, family, or spouses. We always have a great mix of people in the kitchen.
Does your menu ever change?
We make every effort to remain true to the advertised menu, while reserving the right to substitute ingredients or menu items. Due to seasonality and availability, occasionally it may be necessary to substitute ingredients.
Do you have classes for just 2 people?
We can host a private party for 2 people, but it would not be cost effective: for private cooking parties the minimum payment will cover you for up to 8 people. For more information on hosting a private party, click here.
What happens if my class is cancelled?
We rarely cancel a class, but it sometimes happens that we do not have the minimum amount of people to run the class. In that case, we reserve the right to cancel the class with a 48 hour notification. In the event your class is cancelled, you will be notified by us and you will be refunded (in case of a gift certificate, you may use it again toward another class).
Can I bring my own wine?
We are not a BYOB so not outside wine or drinks are allowed. We do however sell wines by the glass or bottle.
Can I bring leftovers home with me?
Unless indicated otherwise in the description of the class, students are discouraged from taking leftovers out of the facility. Some classes, such as our baking classes indicate that students will take home what they make. In these cases appropriate packaging is provided in class.
Do you have kid and teen classes?
In the summer time we provide kid and teen camps.
Can I pay by check or over the phone?
While paying online is the safest way, you may also call us at 434-963-2665 to process the registration by phone. If you would like to pay by check please email email@example.com. Let us know which class you’d like to register for, and that you will be sending us a check. Check should be made out to The Charlottesville Cooking School. How do I pay for the balance of a class?
If the class is more expensive than the value of your gift certificate, you may pay the balance on the day of class, if the balance is less than $25. If the amount is more than $25, we will email you a link through which you can pay the remaining balance online.
When are your classes?
Click here for the class calendar. You will find new classes on our schedule on a weekly basis, usually at least 4 to 10 weeks out.
What is the age limit for your classes?
Our classes are for ages 17 and up, unless otherwise specified in the class description. Children ages 15 and up may attend an adult cooking class if accompanied by a paying adult. We can accept only one underage child per accompanying adult. The fee for an underage child is the same as that for an adult.
Are the classes hands-on or demonstration?
Our classes are hands-on (unless otherwise stated in the class description).
Do I need to bring anything to class?
No need to bring anything, unless it is specified in the class description. We provide aprons and the recipes as well.
Where do you source the ingredients for your classes?
Can you accommodate special dietary restrictions?
We are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions you may have. Prior to signing up, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and inform us about which class you would like to take and what accommodations you need. We will try to make every effort to modify the menu for you.
Do you have a waiting list for sold out classes?
Yes we do. Just email email@example.com and indicate which class you’d like to take. Make sure to include your phone#. You will be notified if a space becomes available.
Do you teach at people’s homes?
We do not offer in-home service. All our classes are held at our cooking school in the Meadowbrook shopping center in Charlottesville.
Do I have to register in advance or can I just show up?
All classes require advanced registration.
How do I redeem my gift certificate?
You may click HERE or email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what the gift certificate# is, your phone# and which class you would like to apply it to.
